She looks more like Jesus than she does a winner …

I cringe every time I hear a Christian (especially one considered a “leader”) talk about people being “winners” or “losers.”

But it isn’t uncommon.

In fact, “winning” and “success” are popular topics in many pulpits. But there’s much more to life than “winning,” which is powerfully demonstrated by this runner …

Pictured above is Jacqueline Kiplimo, an elite Kenyan runner, passing water to a dehydrated, handicapped Chinese competitor who was suffering. Both were competing in the 2010 Zheng-Kai marathon, and the story unfolds like this:

Kiplimo was leading the race at the 10-kilometre mark when she saw an armless athlete trying to open a water bottle. The athlete was severely dehydrated and in need of water. She decided to slow down and help the athlete drink water. She ran along side of him from the 6.2 mile mark to the 23 mile mark, helping him drink water at all of the watering stations which; this demonstration of compassion allowed her competitors to overtake her. After 38 kilometers, she tried playing catch-up with the rest of the field but could only manage a second-place finish. She pocketed $10,000, missing out on a higher amount had she won the race.

It’s not all about winning.
