Bad medicine …

You may have read about how, in 1982, seven residents of the greater Chicago area made an assumption that proved fatal. They all took a dose of Extra Strength Tylenol that had been laced with potassium cyanide. What they thought was medicine proved to be poison.

Imagine the horror of taking what you thought was beneficial and discovering, too late, that it was killing you!

The Apostle Paul had a different fear for Christians, but one that could have calamitous results …

“But I fear that somehow your pure and undivided devotion to Christ will be corrupted, just as Eve was deceived by the cunning ways of the serpent,” 2 Corinthians 11:3.

Why did Paul harbor such a fear? Because …

“You happily put up with whatever anyone tells you, even if they preach a different Jesus than the one we preach, or a different kind of Spirit than the one you received, or a different kind of gospel than the one you believed,” 2 Corinthians 11:4.

Who and what you listen to, and what you believe is just as critical as choosing safe medicine from poison! Yet, today it is common to see Christians scramble together a hodge podge of sources they listen to and “… happily put up with whatever anyone tells …” them. Being deceived by the cunning ways of a false preacher is just as devastating as Eve being deceived by the cunning ways of the serpent.

How do you know what and who you’re listening to is giving you “good medicine for your soul”?
