You can’t outrun yourself …

One thing I’ve often had to emphasize with counseling or coaching clients is this: “Wherever you go, there you are.”

You can never run away from who you are.

You have gifts, talents, strengths … as well as flaws, weaknesses and problems. It comes as a bundle called “you.”

Sometimes, in the challenges, stresses and pressures of life, we need a little time off or away to “decompress.” Often, though, there’s the temptation or desire to run away from the problems to some place, some thing, or someone better.

But wherever you go, there YOU are!

Your life … complete with its problems … will be in the new place, new job, new relationship. Some things may change, but YOU will still be there.

Ultimately, to move forward and improve your life you have to embrace your realities, address the issues, use your strengths and work on the problems. Otherwise, you’ll simply be miserable. Because, after all, wherever you go … there you are.
