You can’t do this with an acquaintance …

One of the truest marks of real friendship is the ability to turn to your friend and say, “I told you so!”

You see, in order to be able to say that with honesty to a friend, you have to know them. I’m not talking about having opinions about an acquaintance. I’m not talking about another couple you sometimes have dinner with and once joined on a camping trip. I’m talking about really knowing a friend because you’ve been there, done that with them. You have life experience together. You’ve been exposed to both their head and heart and you love them anyway … and vice versa.

And knowing your friend, because you’ve done life together, you can look them in the eye and say, “I told you so!”

And you would be right.

And they would know it.

And that would be okay.
