Congratulations, you’re pre-approved!

It’s such a good promotional slogan, the company puts it on the sides of its trucks: “Everyone’s pre-approved”:

The idea is that everyone can get credit and buy the things the company sells. But notice it says “pre-approved.” It’s a lure to get everyone in the door. Then once they run credit scores, they’ll finance some and try to make cash sales with others. Some will leave the store without a purchase.

God isn’t selling anything, but He does have His own version of, “Everyone’s pre-approved.” The Apostle Peter stated it this way:

“The Lord isn’t really being slow about his promise, as some people think. No, he is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants everyone to repent,” 2 Peter 3:9.

The Apostle Paul shared the same message when he wrote, “This is good and pleases God our Savior, who wants everyone to be saved and to understand the truth,” 1 Timothy 2:3-4.

With God, everyone is pre-approved for salvation. He has already purchased our salvation from sin for us, something none of us could do for ourselves. Now He extends to us an offer to freely receive the purchase He has made for us. He’s made the process easy. There’s no bait to get you in the door. There’s no credit checks, no background checks, no qualifying in anyway. If you’re breathing, you’re already qualified for receiving the saving grace of God.

It’s free for everyone!

But you do have to respond to this amazing offer.

You have to believe it. You have to confess your need for it. And you have to give up the sin that created the need for such an offer. Then you sign off on this covenant with God by being baptized.

God has a truckload of salvation for you! Are you ready to take delivery?
