SURVEY RESULTS: Your answers to our survey questions …
Every week the Scott Free Clinic has posted on its website a new survey question, and then we invite our audience to participate with their answers. The survey is very short, sometimes just a single sentence.
So, what are the responses to all those surveys?
Let’s find out!
Before sharing the survey results, keep in mind a few things. First, our surveys aren’t — and don’t claim to be — scientifically conducted research. Also, it’s unlikely that the exact same people completed all of the surveys; in fact, since the number of people participating in each of the surveys varied, we can assume all of the survey participant groups were different one from another. These surveys help us gain insights about you, our friends and audience.
Now, let’s find out how you’ve responded to all those surveys!
SURVEY ONE
Does your church offer any kind of training to equip members to effectively be able to share the Gospel with a non-Christian? * Yes * No * I don’t know
Results: 67% yes, 33% no.
This is a surprising number. The majority of churches today do not offer training in evangelism, so it’s encouraging that the majority of our participants are in churches that do!
If your church offered training in being equipped to effectively share the Gospel with non-Christians, would you take the training? * Yes * No * I’m not sure.
Results: 100% yes.
A resounding 100 percent of survey participants said they would take evangelism training if offered. Just a reminder we can connect you with an online equipping course that is the best training in evangelism you’ll find anywhere! you can learn more about that fantastic equipping opportunity here.
SURVEY TWO
Have you ever been diagnosed as having a mental illness? * Yes * No.
Results: 80% no, 20% yes.
This response mirrors national averages.
If yes, did you receive treatment for it? * Yes * No.
Results: 100% yes.
This response excites us, since many people never get the help they need. However, it cannot be assumed from this 100 percent that they received all the help they needed, or that they received adequate help. Dr. Scott routinely sees people who have been to multiple counselors without successful outcomes.
SURVEY THREE
What is the current quality of communication you have with your spouse?
* Vibrant * Good * Needs Improvement * Poor.
Results: 22% vibrant, 45% good, 22% needs improvement, 11% poor.
Effective communication is a primary key to building a satisfying, lasting collaborative marriage. The Scott Free Clinic will soon be rolling out its Couple Communication training program, offering training in the leading couple communication program available anywhere, with more than 700,000 couples who have participated in the training.
If training was offered focusing on just building your communication skills with your spouse, would you take the training? * Yes * No.
Results: 78% yes, 22% no.
Even though we have yet to raise the funds needed to fully launch this ministry, we want to help couples build satisfying, collaborative marriages, so we’re moving forward toward offering the Couple Communication training program. Your financial support of the Scott Free Clinic will help us be able to bring such outstanding services to couples.
SURVEY FOUR
In all honesty, which is more important to you: * Your happiness * Your holiness.
Results: 100% holiness.
Great answer! But knowing human behavior as it is, a natural and immediate question arising from such a resounding response is whether this answer is lived out daily in the lives of the survey respondents.
SURVEY FIVE
Have you ever personally led someone who didn’t know anything about Jesus Christ into a covenant relationship with Him? * Yes * No.
Results: 50% yes, 50% no.
This is a much better response than among the general Christian population, where studies tell us most Christians will never share the Gospel with anyone in their lifetime! Still, a full half of our respondents never have shared the Gospel with a lost person. Let’s pray that changes!
SURVEY SIX
What aspect of your life currently needs the most change (for improvement) immediately?
* Spritual * Mental and Emotional * Relational (key relationships) * Physical (fitness & health) * Vocational * All of the above.
Results: 22% spiritual, 22% physical, 22% relational, 22% all of the above, 12% mental and emotional.
These responses indicate an audience that identifies needs in a variety of areas in their lives. That’s why the Scott Free Clinic provides a holistic approach to helping people change their lives — mind, spirit, and body.
SURVEY SEVEN
Do you usually embrace or fight change? * I embrace it! * I fight it!
Results: 100% I embrace it!
Great answer! I just hope it’s true. That’s not saying the responses aren’t honest, but sometimes we think we’re more responsive to change than we really are.
SURVEY EIGHT
How often do you read and/or study the Bible with your spouse?
* Daily * Weekly * Monthly * Rarely * Never.
Results: 25% daily, 25% weekly, 25 rarely, 25% never.
Only half of our respondents spend any time reading and/or studying the Bible with their spouse on a consistent basis, with another 25 percent responding they rarely do. A full 25 percent admitted they never spend such time with their spouses. These responses would indicate a level of “spiritual anemia” within the marriages of these respondents.
How often do you read and/or study the Bible with your children?
* Daily * Weekly * Monthly * Rarely * Never.
Results: 50% rarely, 25% daily, 25% never.
With a full 75 percent of these parents responding they rarely or never spend any time reading and/or studying the Bible with their children, we see a portrait of spiritual neglect among these children. If parents aren’t teaching their children about their Creator and Jesus Christ as our Redeemer, then how will they ever hear the Good News and decide to be a follower of Christ? Studies show that the overwhelming majority of youth who do not accept Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord before they graduate high school never will!
Okay, we’ve looked at whether respondents spend time in the Word with their spouses and children, now let’s see from the same respondents what their answers are regarding prayer …
How often do you pray with your spouse? * Daily * Weekly * Monthly * Rarely * Never.
Results: 50% daily, 25% weekly, 25% never.
The outcomes are better regarding praying together than time in the Word together, with fully half of the respondents praying with their spouses on a daily basis, and another 25 percent doing so weekly. Still, we see 25 percent who never pray or spend time in the Bible with their spouses.
But wait, responses get worse when it comes to children …
How often do you pray with your children? * Daily * Weekly * Monthly *Rarely * Never.
Results: 50% daily, 25% rarely, 25% never.
Fully half of our respondents rarely or never pray with their children. It would appear many parents are overlooking the single greatest responsibility of a parent: to raise their children to be followers of Jesus Christ. Equipping parents to be the primary pastors and spiritual teachers in the lives of their children is a need church leaders should give critical attention to. The Scott Free Clinic can help in this area as well, including providing parents with an outstanding evangelistic tool for how to present the Gospel to children.
SURVEY NINE
Have you identified what your spiritual gifts are? * Yes * No.
Results: 83% yes, 17% no.
This is a strong, positive showing and probably reflects local churches helping respondents in this area.
If yes, do you use your spiritual gifts to minister to others? * Yes * No.
Results: 83% yes, 17% no.
With the results being the same as the first question, this should indicate that 100 percent of respondents who said they have identified their spiritual gifts are also using them to minister to others. That’s fantastic! This should encourage church leaders to make important helping their congregants discover what their spiritual gifts are.
SURVEY TEN
Do you have at least one close, personal friend you can safely share anything with at any time? * Yes * No.
Results: 50% yes, 50% no.
We’ve never been more connected globally than we are now, yet there are so many who feel very alone.
SURVEY ELEVEN
How would you describe the role of anger in your life?
* Anger has been out-of-control and a destructive force in my life.
* I often struggle with lashing out in anger toward others.
* I sometimes get angry, but I usually control it and usually don’t hurt others with it.
* I sometimes get angry but I don’t let it lead to sin.
* I’m always a happy camper!
Results:
33% Anger has been out-of-control and a destructive force in my life.
33% I sometimes get angry but I don’t let it lead to sin.
25% I sometimes get angry, but I usually control it and usually don’t hurt others with it.
9% I’m always a happy camper!
More people responded to this survey than any other. It appears many people struggle with anger to some degree, with a full third of respondents acknowledging that anger has even been out-of-control and destructive in their lives.
We want to say THANK YOU to everyone who participated in these surveys. We also want to invite and encourage ALL OF YOU to make it a habit of stopping by the Scott Free Clinic website every week and participate in the weekly surveys.
