Cleaning out your anxieties …

This world is overflowing with people who are worried, anxious, and loaded down with burdens.

Who doesn’t know someone who is “stressed out”?!

Did you know that scripture implores us not to live that way?

Instead of being anxious, fretful people, God desires that we trust Him so completely that we transfer our worries to Him …

“Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.” – 1 Peter 5:7.

What does it look like to give our “worries and cares” to God?

John Paton, a missionary to a remote group of natives, was having a difficult time translating certain passages of the Bible into their language. It seemed this particular group had no word for “believe.” Then one day, one of the natives flopped into a chair, stretched out and propped his legs up on another chair. He then expressed how good it felt to “lean his whole weight on” those chairs. The missionary quickly wrote down the expression.

God wants us to “lean our whole weight” of our lives, and all the heaviness of living, fully upon Him. He cares for us, and wants to be our strength and support.

Can you believe it — the Creator of the universe wants to be our strength!

Believing just that, and then acting on that belief, will change your life. It is your means of clearing out the anxieties of your life and discovering in Christ a peace that passes all understanding.

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding,” Proverbs 3:5

“Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand,” Isaiah 41:10.

“Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus,” Philippians 4:6-7.
