When Starbucks was out of coffee …

It’s true.

Three times in a row, when visiting a particular Starbucks store, they were out of coffee.

A coffee shop, out of coffee!

Okay, let me clarify that — they were brewing some more coffee, it just so happened that three times in a row I walked in when they had hit the bottom of the pot of brewed coffee on hand. But the store, itself, wasn’t out of coffee.

Starbucks never runs out of coffee!

That’s not because it’s some magical, mystical place where coffee regenerates itself; the thousands and thousands of Starbucks stores never run out of coffee simply because they manage their inventory of coffee on hand to ensure they have more coffee than is sold on any given day. If they didn’t manage their inventory that way, Starbucks stores could literally run out of coffee.

After finding myself once again waiting on a new pot of coffee to brew, I sat thinking that while it’s technically possible for Starbucks to run out of coffee, the same could NOT be said regarding the love and grace of God.

We never have to ration our take of His love or grace for fear it will run out. That’s because it is IMPOSSIBLE to reach an end to either, for both are as limitless and immeasurable as He is!

“Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good! His faithful love endures forever,” 1 Chronicles 16:34.

“For that is what God is like. He is our God forever and ever, and he will guide us until we die,” Psalm 48:14.

“For the Lord is good. His unfailing love continues forever, and his faithfulness continues to each generation,” Psalm 100:5.

“But the love of the Lord remains forever with those who fear him …” Psalm 103:17a.

“Praise the Lord, all you nations. Praise him, all you people of the earth. For his unfailing love for us is powerful; the Lord’s faithfulness endures forever. Praise the Lord!” Psalm 117:1-2.

“So just as sin ruled over all people and brought them to death, now God’s wonderful grace rules instead, giving us right standing with God and resulting in eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord,” Romans 5:21.

“So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most,” Hebrews 4:16.

Immeasurably better than a coffee shop that never runs out of coffee is the infinite love and grace of God which He offers to us forever and ever. Amen!
