Looking out for one another …

One of the wonders of the Bible is that it’s content is so practical!

One example is the need for us as God’s family to look out for one another. Paul demonstrates this practically in his letter to the Christians in Rome, when he takes a moment to look after the best interests of a sister in Christ …

“I commend to you our sister Phoebe, who is a deacon in the church in Cenchrea. Welcome her in the Lord as one who is worthy of honor among God’s people. Help her in whatever she needs, for she has been helpful to many, and especially to me,” Romans 16:1-2.

You can just imagine how well-received and cared for Phoebe would have been with Paul making such a request of the church in Rome. It took so little effort on his part, but you can bet the result would have been Christians rallying to fellowship with and support Phoebe upon her arrival.

How do you look after your fellow brothers and sisters in Christ? Is keeping an eye on their needs important to you?

“Don’t look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too,” Philippians 2:4.
