5 books worth reading in 2019 …

You may have a few or a lot of reasons to look forward to 2019, but having some good book recommendations can be yet another positive experience awaiting you in the New Year.

So let me share with you five books worth making sure you read in 2019. I’ve recommended all of these books several times before, but because they remain some of my leading recommendations, I’ll share them again here:

“The Way of the Dragon or the Way of the Lamb” by Jamin Goggin and Kyle Strobel is an important book in helping us have a more biblical view of power and weakness, especially in ministry. This is a good book for Christians in general, and church leaders in particular, because so much of what we think about power and weakness isn’t biblically correct, therefore so much of what is taught on the subject is inaccurate. You can find my original review of this book here.

“I Am A Follower” by Leonard Sweet remains one of my standing book recommendations, especially for church leaders, so many of whom are addicted to a false or unbiblical view of leadership. Sweet helps us understand the quality of our leadership depends on the quality of our followership. You can find my original review of this book here.

“Plastic Donuts” by Jeff Anderson remains my top book recommendation for the topic of giving. This little, square, hardback book can fit in the palm of your hand, yet it speaks powerfully to the very important issue of giving effectively and in a way that pleases God. I even recommend churches provide this book to each one of their members. You can find my original review of this book here.

“Body by God” by Dr. Ben Lerner. What’s a popular goal for a new year? Getting fit! If that’s an important pursuit for you in the coming year, then you’ll find this book to be of value, especially for the guidance regarding your personal nutrition. You can find my original review of this book here.

“A Dragon Slayer’s Life” by John Hendee. Is there any better time than the start of a new year to identify, then slay, your personal dragons? This is just the right book to help you do that! You can find my original review of this book here.

May your New Year be filled with lots of good reading!
