A prayer request for a fruitful ministry …

Hello friends!

I’m going to use this blog post to do something I haven’t done before but feel compelled to do, which is to ask you to pray for the international ministry of Scott Free Clinic. Let me share a few key reasons why.

Last year, Scott Free Clinic served twice as many people as we did in any year previously, only because needs demanded it. Now, less than two weeks into 2021 and we’re experiencing another spike for demands for services (mostly for clinical counseling and Pastor Care).

People across the country are stressed out, anxious, and depressed at levels I haven’t seen before. The same is very true about church leaders as well. The need for biblically-sound, clinically-excellent counseling is enormous!

Scott Free Clinic is still just a partially launched, dirt poor, unfunded ministry and public charity but we’re doing everything we possibly can to serve as many people as we can because the need demands it. And the wonderful thing is that as long we’re able to minister to people, God is faithful to produce the fruit of changed and changing lives.

All of this is happening:

    • At a time when we are financially frail, struggling each month just to keep the phone on. We’ve lost the use of a workspace, WiFi access, and our computer four times and are currently in that situation now.
    • We have long had a critical need to upgrade our phone but new problems keeping it charged are new signs of the urgent need to be able to upgrade it — that’s expensive and we don’t have any means to do that. But if the phone goes, our current capacity to communicate and deliver services will be shut down until resolved.
    • On top of those issues, our single largest annual expense is coming due very soon.
    • And in the midst of all this, the two-year terms of our current members of our Board of Directors ends the last day of March, so I’m also working on identifying which current Directors want to renew for another term as well as seek out new additions to the Board. Forming the Board for the 2021-2023 term requires a great deal of prayer and is a time-consuming process – when ministry time needs to be maximized toward providing services.

All of that is to say the ministry services of Scott Free Clinic have never been needed and in demand as they are right now, and are barely able to be innovative and creative enough to keep services going. Without an infusion of new support, the bottom could fall out on us at any time.

So we need your prayers!

But we have always looked to our Lord in prayer. This ministry was birthed through prayer, and has been sustained through prayer.

And we sure could use your prayers for us now.

Please pray with us:

    • That God continue to use this ministry to help people change their lives, to support pastors, and to continue to be a resource for churches and other organizations – and to do this for their good and God’s glory.
    • That God would provide the funds needed to cover our large annual expense that is coming up and to be able to upgrade our phone.
    • That God would provide new monthly Care Partners so that we have the funds to operate more fully and be able to rise to the occasion of ministering to so many in need of our services this coming year.

How we have to operate to get anything done might not be pretty, but the beauty is that God has produced the fruit of more than 2,000 changed and changing lives through the work of this ministry. Thanks be to God for that!

So, there you have it – a sharing of some of the prayer needs of Scott Free Clinic. We would be grateful for your prayers!

In His Service,

Dr. James Scott, Jr.
