10 things that make your relationship with God unique from any other relationship …

You may experience a great loving relationship, or a great friendship in your life, but no relationship of any kind you’ll ever have can compare to the unique relationship you can have with God.

I took a piece of paper and wrote down the first 10 things I could think of that make our individual relationships with God utterly and wholly unique from all other relationships. Here’s my “off-the-top-of-my-head” 10:

Your relationship with God …

… is the only relationship that will never, ever fail you. You may (will) fail God at times, but He will never fail you.

… is the only relationship that provides perfect unconditional love.

… is the only relationship in which the other Person looks after your best interests ALL of the time. Even in the best of human relationships, we have our selfish moments; we’re imperfect people who don’t always constantly have the best interests of others at heart.

… is the only relationship in which you literally can find complete fulfillment.

… is the only relationship in which the other Person is the source of your identity.

… is the only relationship in which the other Person is with you every second of your life.

… is the only relationship in which the other Person not only understands you completely, but understands you better than you understand yourself.

… the only relationship in which you find pure truth 100 percent of the time.

… the only relationship in which the other person can meet your every need.

… the only relationship in which the other Person can make you strong when you are weak.

I could continue to add to the list. And I know YOU can add to this list, too, and I encourage you to do so! I also encourage you to find scripture references that support all 10 items listed, it can be a fun way of refreshing your understanding of just how remarkable of a relationship you have available to you in knowing God.

Looking at this list, why would anyone not want this kind of relationship? Do you adequately appreciate all that God brings to your relationship with Him? Do you value the relationship for what it is?
